Just as Adode's PDF has become the standard means of exchanging general application output such as word processing and spreadsheets across multiple software and operating systems - it is now set to become the preferred method of packaging print ready output for commercial printing.

Grafx Resource are fully committed in there use of PDF as the preferred format of all types of digital graphics output and file transfer. Used correctly, PDF is the quickest and safest way to overcome the major issues that arise in the transfer of print ready output from designer to commercial printer;

Font incompatibility - As a correctly produced PDF contains all the required fonts, a document will reproduce faithfully irrespective of operating system and application. Font incompatibility between MAC and Windows systems, need no longer to be an issue.

Application Incompatibility - Although recent versions of graphics and page layout software from companies such as Quark, Adobe and Corel now include comprehensive import and export filters, these do not guarantee 100% accuracy without the need for a degree of manual reworking. Again, PDF output reproduces faithfully no matter which application software is used in the design process.

Large File Size - In most cases, print-ready files are large, encompassing required fonts, high-resolution images and ancillary files. PDF technology compresses everything required into one 'small' file - 500 MB of postscript output can often be reduced to tens of mega-bytes using PDF.
